Shipping policy

All prices are exclusive of shipping. For customers outside of the EU, all prices are also exclusive of inbound duties and taxes.
Shipping rates vary by destination and complexity. Shipping rates are address specific, so you will be asked to enter your full shipping address.
Shipping rates are determined by dimensional weight, which is based on the item size and weight, not just the actual item weight, and shipping distance. Lalande passes the direct cost for shipping to the customer. There is no mark up on these costs.

Shipping Methods

We partner with leading providers to offer fully insured delivery, almost anywhere in the world. Different shipping options are available to you depending on the size, fragility, and your location. Some of Lalande’s most common shipping methods are Front Door Freight and Parcel. Read on to learn more about these options.

Freight Shipping

Front Door Freight is a shipping method typically used for international shipments or fragile items. Prior to transit, a custom crate is built around the item in order to protect it and allow for safe passage. The crating process makes up a significant portion of the quoted shipping time, during which time a tracking link will not be available. Once crating is complete, the crate will be transferred to a transit company and shipped in one of three ways:

  • Land Freight: The crate will be placed on a truck -- at that time you will receive a tracking number and link. Delivery will not be scheduled and the item will be placed by your front door.
  • Air Freight: The crate will be placed on a FedEx or DHL shipping carrier plane -- at that time you will receive a tracking number and link. Delivery will not be scheduled and the item will be placed by your front door.
  • Sea Freight: The crate will be placed in a shipping container and travel overseas via boat. Once it reaches the destination country, the crate will be transferred to a standard shipping carrier (e.g. FedEx or DHL) and you will receive a tracking number and link. Delivery will not be scheduled and the item will be placed by your front door.

Parcel Shipping

Parcel shipping refers to shipping lighter, smaller boxed items where the seller is able to pack and ship the item via standard mail carriers. Once the seller has packed the item, they will receive a shipping label and live tracking will be available to you.

Please note:

  • It is delivered by a parcel delivery service such as UPS, FedEx, or DHL.
  • A signature is required at delivery.
  • With UPS, FedEx, DHL, or another parcel carrier, it's generally more difficult to schedule a delivery, but we recommend that you sign up for the carrier's delivery manager to receive live updates.
  • Can be expedited prior to order confirmation upon request but may require special carriers which come at an extra cost.

Receiving a Delivery

Please make arrangements to inspect your item immediately upon delivery.

If you are asked to sign for the delivery:

  • Inspect the item before signing.
  • If you find noticeable issues, note them in the shipping provider’s official paperwork. If this is not done, the return policy may not cover a return.
  • Keep all packaging and shipping documents.
  • Contact us as soon as possible (no later than 5 days post delivery); we’ll ask for pictures that will help us assess the condition of the piece. Pictures will be required of both the packaging prior to unpacking, and of the content.

If the piece was left by the shipping provider:

  • Inspect the item as soon as possible.
  • If you find noticeable issues, keep all packaging and shipping documents.
  • Contact us as soon as possible (no later than 5 days post delivery); we’ll ask for pictures that will help us assess the condition of the piece. Pictures will be required of both the packaging prior to unpacking, and of the content.

PO Box Shipments

If your shipping address is a PO Box, Lalande is unable to facilitate your shipment.
Lalande shipments are arranged through FedEx, UPS, DHL and other methods, which require a physical address.

Customs Duties and Taxes for International Shipments

When goods are not shipped domestically (within Greece) or within a single customs union, such as the European Union, you are responsible for any inbound duties and taxes which your local customs authority deems appropriate. These fees are in addition to the product price and shipping cost. Applicable duties and taxes are calculated at the border and based on the nature of the item, final price of the item, and the destination country.

Import duties are payable upon receipt of your order or at a later date, depending on your customs authority.

To clear customs, you will also be required to provide personal information such as your SSN, EIN, IRN, TIN, or EORI. The shipping carrier will contact you about the required information, declaration, and owed fees which must be paid before delivery of your purchase is scheduled.

Please note that shipping delays due to customs processing are not uncommon. Delays at customs are outside of Lalande’s control and may extend the delivery date beyond the initial maximum delivery date provided. Delays at customs are not eligible for shipping refunds as they remain outside of Lalande’s control.
